The Edge of the Cliff Sometimes when you look at a dream or goal that you have for yourself - you can get frozen by fear (like peering over the edge of the cliff). This dream that is going to make you step way out of your comfort zone to change some part of your life is going to be really unnerving. It’s going to feel exciting, nerve-wracking, exhilarating and intimidating all at the same time. Then you can start to really doubt yourself and your big, scary dream. You get sidetracked – getting too far into your own head that is filled with self-doubt, fear and anxiety. This might also involve tears, screaming and sometimes feelings of despair. TAKE A BREATH – guess what – that is totally normal. When you make the choice that you are going to change your life (whatever aspect that may be for you) and chase after a dream or goal that is something that is only yours – you are on the edge of the cliff. That is a scary feeling and choosing to let go of the ledge and follow your heart for most people is full of fear, doubt and uncertainty. A lot of people will just stay on the ledge, never feeling ready to jump off (hint – you won’t ever feel ‘ready’). The best way to let go of the ledge and jump into making that scary change is shifting your belief system. To help you shift your belief system, you need to find your why. Your why as to why you are chasing your dream – why was the dream given just to you? There is always a reason – once you find it, your belief system will start to shift and make that ledge look less and less frightening. If you believe that you achieving your dream has purpose, you will find jumping off that ledge much easier. Your dream does have purpose – there was a reason that it was given to you and you are the only one that can bring it to life. Only you. Don’t doubt your ability, the Creator/God/Universe gave you everything that you need – you just have to believe in yourself too. Could you imagine if some of the great dreamers of all time stayed stuck in fear and self-doubt? We would never have Disneyworld, $5+ Starbucks coffee, iPhones or even lightbulbs. All of these were once dreams that were brought to life by the people they were given too – and they stood on their belief that it is always POSSIBLE. They didn’t fear failing because if you learn the lesson – then NOTHING is a failure – you just keep learning. It might not always look perfect or graceful. You might fall down on your face. There might be bruises and tears. But you always get back up. You will have those days where it will seem impossible to move forward, but those are the days that you show up for yourself anyway. Show up for your dream and your purpose on the days when you don’t feel like it and the weather isn’t perfect and any other excuse your brain can come up with (I know because my brain does it too). You and your dream are worth it. ANYTHING is possible when you decide and believe it to be so. Remember… Life is What You Choose Renea |
