Stuck in the “Diet” Cycle?
Do you find yourself trying each new fad diet that comes out to have either mediocre results or lose weight just to gain it back? You might be stuck in the “diet” cycle. The longer that you stay in this vicious cycle the more you compound your unhealthy relationship with food. You can then form more concrete beliefs that it is hard for you to lose weight or that you are going to struggle with your weight forever.
I have completely been there – stuck in trying any new diet to lose the weight that I had struggled with my entire life and I hated it. I felt so uncomfortable, tugging at my clothes to loosen them up as I continued to struggle with my weight. I had short term success in losing weight – if you work out and eat healthy you will. However, once you get out of the “diet” cycle, you will then gain that weight back. You have only put a band aid on the problem – and then that band aid gets old and falls off.
I gained that weight all back (45lbs) plus some! Then I got pregnant with my second child and legit wore my pregnancy jeans (the kind where the elastic covers the full belly) for a full year and a half AFTER my son was born. I had an extremely unhealthy relationship with food and was a full-on food and sugar addict. I had never felt worse about myself than at this dark time.
What’s missing in the health and fitness industry is that constantly being in the “diet” cycle doesn’t actually fix the real problem, it’s just a band aid. Being overweight or struggling with food is a symptom of a bigger problem that is going on. The bigger issue is a lack of self-love and self-worth that manifests itself into having an unhealthy relationship with food and with yourself.
To fully love yourself, have a healthy relationship with food, lose weight and keep it off there needs to be a shift in mindset. The mindset shift from going on another quick fix fad diet to making a life change for the long term. To having long term amazing results in your physical health, mental health and of course – a freakin hot body!
The first step is choosing to change the cycle and try something different to fix the real problem. Then you continue to make that choice again and again to heal yourself. Heal your relationship with food, yourself, your confidence and how you feel physically and mentally. Each choice gets you closer to where you want to be.
If you find that you get stuck along the way – seek help. Reach out and use resources that are available to you. Research and find a program or a coach that has been where you are and has found a way to fix the deep-rooted issue. That’s why there are coaches out there – to help others where they have struggled and overcome. I am passionate about helping others take back control of their health and relationship with food because I was there and I know how I felt. I felt alone, disgusting, fat, bloated, weak, helpless and left wondering what was wrong with me.
I didn’t want to feel like this anymore – so I stood up and made a choice to try something different. I chose to take back my life. You can choose take that first step and take back control of your health too. Instead of continuing to struggle. The choice is yours.
