I AM ……
If you’re like me and most of my clients, you struggle with patience. This can also include having patience with yourself. You have decided to make changes in your life that are huge leaps and bounds from where you came from. Even making that choice is a huge challenge for some people. We, as a society, fear change the most – and fear is great at controlling people. Once you decide that you aren’t going to let fear control you anymore – you have made the first choice towards change.
“If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living.” -Gail Sheehy
For some people, change can be terrifying, but for others, it can be liberating. You can move forward to not letting those past choices hold you back to bring you to your highest self. Your highest self being the best version of yourself that you were intended to be – loving, authentic and living a truly abundant life. You have to make leaps of faith and know that fear is only there to hold you back in life. Sure, you may have setbacks on the road to changing your life. You can have a slip and indulge in gossip about someone else or have days where you just feel challenged by a situation and you explode. Days that we talk more about our problems and don’t talk about our joys. We have all had those days where you feel like the Universe must be testing our patience. You have to know that these minor setbacks can be seen as just that – minor setbacks. Get back to moving forward and forgive yourself for the slip – I always ask my clients “Would you expect perfection from a child?” the answer is always no – a child is still learning how to navigate the world and figure out who they are and what their path is. When you think about your path of changing your beliefs or main habits, you have to be patient with yourself as well. You are only starting out on your journey, so expecting perfection is unrealistic – you only strive for progress each and every day.
“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.”– Mary Anne Radmacher
During times when you are struggling to have patience with yourself, a great way to get out of your own head is to make your list of I Am’s. I Am’s are a great way to break free from your own rambling thoughts and self-doubts. This is where YOU get to DECIDE how you see yourself and more importantly how you FEEL about yourself.
Here is an example from my mentor:
I am Renea
I am a Strong Woman
I am a seeker of knowledge
I am patient
I am blessed
I am kind
I am thoughtful
I am resilient
I am intelligent
I am tolerant
I am humble
I am fierce
I am gentle
I am beautiful
I am abundant
I am successful
This is a great reminder that not only should you have patience with yourself, but you should continually be building yourself up. No one is perfect and that’s what makes us human. Once you continually build yourself up, your confidence will bring your energy vibration higher and higher. The way that you feel about yourself plays a MAJOR role in manifesting. If you can’t truly love yourself, how are you supposed to be in a truly good place to manifest. Releasing yourself from what your old perceptions are about yourself and replacing them with positives about yourself will do amazing manifestation wonders. This is where having a coach by your side to guide you through challenging times is helpful… a coach can call you out when you are slipping back into your old habits. I will continue to repeat myself on this one…. Strive for PROGRESS not perfection.
