How to Beat Mom Life Overwhelm

With Mother’s Day that just passed – it has gotten me thinking about the support that moms need nowadays. Obviously – being a busy mom of 2 myself, I know how tough this job really is. Don’t get me wrong – it is totally rewarding and amazing when you look at those beautiful babies of yours. But, then there are days when you really just want to talk to a grown up about something other than poop.

I was reading an article about stay-at-home moms and how it is the loneliest job around. With today’s society, if you have the “pleasure” of being a stay-at-home mom, this usually means that your significant other is out of the house working furiously to keep your family afloat financially. This translates into not having another grown up around to help keep your sanity in check. Plus – in modern society, it is not unusual to have moved away from your family. This means – if you haven’t found your own tribe of other moms – you can basically feel like a floating buoy, alone, trying not to drown in a vast ocean of toddler tantrums and tears.

The biggest things that stay-at-home moms report that they struggle with are isolation, depression, anxiety, overwhelm, sadness, resentment and anger. But hold up ladies – it’s not just stay-at-home moms that are experiencing this either. Nope – working moms are also completely stressed, overwhelmed, anxious and feel like they are running around like a chicken with their heads cut off most of the time.

I have done both but here’s what I can tell you right off the bat – being a mom is a hard job. The hours suck, the clientele most of the time is needy, whiny and full of boogers, not to mention most of the time you feel like you are exhausted and in desperate need of a nap.

Here is what I have found as a busy mom myself that went through anxiety, loneliness, being overwhelmed and severe depression – there is a way out! There is a way to become a happier, healthier and more energetic mom right now. I have developed a method on how to beat the busy mom life overwhelm, depression and anxiety that we can feel at times. It also doesn’t involve giving more of yourself to anyone else except you – so you can be a happier, healthier, more energetic mom.

Here are a few quick tips to get you started right now!

  1. Take time for yourself.
As a busy mom – this is crucial (yes, I can see your eye roll). I know how I used to feel about this – “I don’t have time for anything else!”. However, even if you take 5-10 minutes of just actually leaving the house and being alone with your own thoughts – this will help you alleviate the stress of not being able to finish a thought without being interrupted a bajillion times with questions like “why can’t I have cake for breakfast, mommy?”

  1. Get a hobby.
Knitting, crocheting, funny videos on social media – doesn’t matter what it is, just do something that doesn’t involve playing patty cake or wiping someone else’s butt. This is something just for you that you get excited about and look forward to doing. You don’t have to take on a massive hobby project – just start small with something you can do during naptime or at night for 30 minutes.

  1. Find a tribe.
This can be a little tricky sometimes. I feel like making friends as a grown up is harder and harder the older that you get. I moved around a lot during my life, so I have a ton of acquaintances but very few that I would call up in tears during one of those days that you are knee deep in mom life doodoo (or puke, or head lice or whatever else mom life can throw at you). My tribe started super small and grew over time though. Start interacting and putting yourself out there and don’t be intimidated by admitting that you are struggling and you don’t have it all figured out. That’s the part that makes you human.

Moms have the best, but the hardest job – raising tiny humans to become productive members of society. So, what better way to support a busy mom than offer you your very own amazing tribe – the warrior tribe. The warrior tribe is full of amazing women that have been through battles and want to live a life they absolutely love living. A life without the depression, anxiety and brain fog that you can struggle with. A life filled with joy, happiness and serenity. You are not alone. If life is feeling like a battle right now – let’s get you back on track.
