You ever find yourself starting your week out great and motivated and then suddenly – somehow – throughout the drag of the week you get into a funk? You miss a day of doing important mindset work or something that keeps you motivated and you fall right back into your old habits. It’s just so easy to slip in those first few weeks and you find yourself starting and stopping.
First of all, take a breath because this is totally normal. You have to cut yourself some slack and realize that you are striving for progress, not perfection. As long as you realize that you have slipped back into the funk (you know, the one where you don’t take the action towards your goals because you don’t feel like it), that is progress my friend. Once you realize that you have gotten stuck in the funk, you can focus your energy on taking the action to get back on track.
The steps you can take to get yourself out of the funk is create daily habits that help you continue to take action towards your goals. Yes, whether you feel like it or not. Some days are rougher than others in life, let’s just face the facts. If you let those days get to you, then getting in the funk is much easier.
My personal example of this is that last week my hubby, both kiddos and myself took a turn on the cold/virus merry – go round. So, there were days that I listened and rested my body, but then let the funk take over the last few days where nothing got done. My non-negotiables went out the f******* window and I gave the biggest excuse – I am sick, I don’t feel like it - so f off. Journaling – no. Mindset work – no. Etc – nope, nope and nope.
Guess what happened – s*** hit the fan. Not only was everyone sick, we were bickering and in such a negative state that pretty much nothing got done. We became completely unmotivated. I started to feel very depressed and lethargic. I tell you this so that you know that it is not just you that goes through the funk and this is completely normal. Learn the lessons and move on from the funk to get back on track.
You are loved and worthy just as you are right now.
Take one step at a time.
Always striving for progress, not perfection.
Only moving towards being a little better than yesterday.
Getting back on track is taking little steps at a time to focus on doing better than yesterday. Start small – with journaling in the morning. This is a MASSIVE tool that will add more value to your life than ever – especially to keep you up and out of the funk and motivated. You can come out your morning journaling session feeling like a completely different person when you journal and remind yourself of what your goals are.
We become unmotivated when we lose sight of our goals & why we want them.
Reminding yourself daily by journaling your goals and why you want to achieve them. This is a great step to take to shift out of the funk and into motivated gear.
I also am a big believer of making yourself a daily/weekly to-do lists that can keep you on track on staying motivated even when you don’t feel like it. I make one every Monday morning and use it to keep myself accountable. This helps set out what I need to accomplish to take action towards my goals and keep me motivated. Am I perfect and check everything off every single day??? – Nope, but I’m striving for progress and it’s getting much better.
Just remember, when you get in the funk – don’t stay there.
Just pick up from where you left off and keep it moving forward.
Love you bunches,
