Let it Go: Part 1 - PhysicalI hear often in the self-help community “Let go of all that no longer serves you” …. ummmmm what the hell is that supposed to mean? When I first heard this I laughed and then was immediately confused. Let go of all that no longer serves me….is this supposed to be physical, emotional or spiritual? Holding on is believing that there’s a past; letting go is knowing that there’s a future. —Daphne Rose Kingma
Actually, it can be all of those things. Letting go is a huge process for everyone – otherwise you would have manifested everything you desire already. So, because it is such a huge process – this will be a 3-part blog series on letting go. Everyone has their own difficulties with any or all 3 parts – so as always – remember to be patient, kind and forgiving with yourself. The first part will focus on the some of the physical aspects that will help start you on the path of manifesting. In the physical aspect you could be holding on to physical items that are damaged, broken, holy undies, a past lovers and clutter. These items can have sentimental value, however, if you are making changes to move forward to manifest your new dreams - if those items are not part of that end equation – Let it Go. If you are just holding onto items because you are waiting for the ca$hola to replace them – you are blocking your manifesting goals because you are sending out mixed signals. Now, I am not advising that you get rid of everything you own (please use your common sense), however doing a major declutter of your physical space is a must for manifesting. I tell my clients that I do a major declutter every 6 months in my house and then make several runs to clothing donations throughout the year (as my children grow rapidly out of clothing). Clutter is a weight that has built on top of you so gradually that you don’t even realize anymore that it is holding you down. – Mary Johanson Some people struggle with the aspect of letting go of items that they have attached memories to. I don’t get rid of items that belonged to my grandparents or sentimental family heirlooms, however I make sure that my space stays clutter free. Remember, the holy underwear doesn’t give you the memory – you already have the memory. If you need a reminder for memory lane, take a picture of them, then – Let it Go. I’m a Virgo, so I already feel like clutter is suffocating, not to mention that you can’t manifest if your space has old, stagnant energy – NO WAY. In my book, this just gives me an excuse to throw things away – including smuggling out broken toys the night before the garbage truck rolls by. Don’t own so much clutter that you will be relieved to see your house catch fire. – Wendell Berry My general rule of thumb is that if you haven’t even seen it in the past year, Let it Go. Haven’t worn it in the past 6 months (weather permitting), Let it Go. It’s broken or has holes like Swiss cheese, Let it Go. An ex-lovers t-shirt that you never intend on returning, Let it go. You get the idea. I love donating items, but you can do whatever you like. Take the weekend to look around at your space and see where you might be blocking your manifestations. As always, forgive yourself for holding onto these items from the past, but we are moving on to bigger and better things. You can comment and let me know how many garbage bags you decluttered from your space this weekend. No time like the present to get into action! :) Next week: Let it Go: Part 2 - Emotional |
