How to Not Lose Your Sh!t - even on a MondayThe Monday after my daughters birthday weekend celebration, I woke up exhausted. We had one of those holy crazy bananas weekends, where I felt like I didn’t even have time to think, we were so busy. So when I stretched my tired, sore body that Monday morning - I immediately wanted to schedule a “Netflix & Chill” day. My hubby & I used to have these days often back when I let self-sabotage rule the roost. I would have used this as any excuse to eat like crap and stay in my stench and jammies all day. However, I told myself, I won’t be achieving my goals by staying in bed all day and I had things already scheduled, so I pushed myself out of bed and up for the day. That’s where it all started - and from there on out, sh*t hit the fat. The morning started with chaos and everything trickled downhill from there. The whole day was filled with hilarious mishaps - with a “cherry on top” ending.
Throughout the day, I tried to stay calm and was working overtime at trying to not to lose my sanity as I was going through a Monday from hell. Of course, I had to share my Top 3 Tips on How Not to Lose Your Sh!t - even if you have a Monday like mine. 1. Journal - Journaling is such a powerful tool to help shift your mood and focus your day. No, it doesn’t have to take forever - 5 to 10 minutes is all you need to get going. Even after I came home from dropping the kids off at school, I wanted to lay in bed and do nothing. Instead, I journaled for 10 minutes and got motivated for the day. I wrote out what I wanted to accomplish, both big and small, and focused on what I want for my life, instead of how exhausted I was. If you are one of those people that just can’t get the hang of journaling - don’t worry - you are not alone! Most people struggle with how to get started so STAY TUNED! I’m going to be doing a video sharing how to get started with journaling and what to do when you get stuck and don’t know what to write. 2. Breathe - When you have those moments when everything is going wrong and you feel like you might just lose your mind and you want to scream - BREATHE. I came up with the Red Balloon Trick for a reason - because there are times in life when you feel like you are going to lose your shit. (Check out the Red Balloon Trick here) So, I needed a tool to help me deal with real life and the Red Balloon Trick was born. It is a simple, yet POWERFUL tool that can help anyone from ages 3 to 103. It has helped manage and control things such as anxiety and panic attacks, anger, frustration, test anxiety, tantrums and arguments among it’s other uses. Click here for a video demonstration of me teaching the fabulous tool so you can use it for yourself and your kiddos. 3. Don’t sweat the small stuff - There is an old saying with parents to pick and choose your battles when it comes to kids, well I applied the same rule for real life. The small stuff that you can’t control, don’t freak out, instead let it roll off your back. If there is a problem or something that happened, think “how can you get to the solution with the lease amount of collateral damage” (meaning - completely losing your sh!t, sometimes you just lose it a little bit). Back when my kids were little, I would sweat everything about needing things to be perfect or in control and when it wasn’t (which is MOST of the time) - I would lose my mind and my patience with EVERYONE. I didn’t enjoy this feeling- so little by little I started to let go of the control freak inside - and trust me, letting the little stuff go feels so freeing. I hear from people all the time that tell me they are surprised to hear that I have moments still where I want to lose my mind - no way, I am a human being. However, the more tools that I develop and refine and apply to real life situations - the less likely I am to lose my mind, my sanity and my shit. It feels better to be able to handle a situation instead of turn into that scary, screaming mommy that’s losing it in aisle 4 (no judgement here if you have done that because, honey, let’s face it - we all have had those moments). The goal is to make them few and far between - so you don’t lose your sh!t - even on those lovely Mondays. Xo Renea |
