Isn't it Ironic... Dontcha Think? There are times that people are placed in your life at that exact moment for a purpose and most times in the most ironic way. The thing about sharing the completely ironic situation that I found myself in - is that it comes with a tinge of sadness. One of those times you just sit back and see how everything comes full circle.
This week, our family welcomed a special visitor - Grandma Karen. She is an absolutely stunning woman that doesn’t look a day over 40 but has knowledge and wisdom beyond her years. She is a beautiful warrior woman inside and out, that stands a strong 5’2” (almost), but wouldn’t hesitate to stand up and tell off a fully grown man if they deserved it. She immediately comes in and gets on the floor to open her “treasure chest” full of goodies for us. Wonderful things like masks for the kids, jam, a dollar folded like a peacock and a beautiful book of Wise Women by Joyce Tenneson. Please and Thank You?Rarely do I write a ranty post, but I have to bring this up because it keeps popping up. That and I’ve been people watching lately (one of my favorite things to do in public). One of the things that I have noticed is that most people have forgotten how to look at someone in the eye when they are helping them and use basic manners like please, thank you and you’re welcome.
I am definitely a manners person and would never want to feel or seem ungrateful for anyone. I believe in saying please and thank you, especially to someone helping or waiting on me. I have also been a stickler to push this onto my children - which I have actually had people (usually the older generation) stop me in public to say how much they appreciate that I am teaching my children to use manners. Dealing with Anxiety and TriggersA lot of people suffer from some type of anxiety disorder, though most people don’t really talk about it. As of Jan 2018 about 40 million Americans - roughly 18% of the population is or has suffered from an anxiety disorder. So, if you suffer from anxiety - you are not alone and I personally have suffered from anxiety for years.
I have released old anxieties through practice and time - not overnight and at times it felt like I would never be free of anxiety and it’s grip. My anxiety has changed and shifted throughout the years, but now I know that it takes an actionable method to deal with. Anxiety stems from worrying about an uncertain event in the future, but I find also that anxiety attacks can stem from a trigger from the past. A trigger may be something that reminds you of some battle that happened in the past (usually considered bad or hurtful) that sets off an anxiety attack. Ready to Get Going? When the Going Gets Tough - The Tough Get Going
Have you heard this expression before? My mom used to say it all the time. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Of course, I didn't get it during my teenage years (you know - the years where you think your parents don't know anything). Life can get tough sometimes, especially when going through battles. Those battles are meant to help growth happen. However, if we constantly throw our hands up & give up when it gets tough - the true growth never happens. |
