Scared of Change? My hubby is out taking a course this week and he came home last night with “homework”. His homework was to either read or watch the video “Who Moved My Cheese?”. I encourage you to seriously take a look because it has to do with change.
You see, people can think of change as this big, scary thing that you are going to have to “endure”, but it doesn’t have to be like that at all. Change can be amazing and make you feel incredible while you are going through it. Don't Let Fear Run the ShowWhen you start to identify your dreams and put a plan of action behind them, you turn them into goals. DREAM + ACTION PLAN = GOAL. However, a lot of people won’t go past this point. Why? Why don’t we take the actions that we know we should, to achieve what we want?
FEAR When you make the choice that you want to change something and go after a goal (whatever aspect that may be for you) – you are on the edge of the cliff. Guess what else lives there – fear. Battle ScarsSo many times, we try to push our battles behind us and pretend that they didn’t exist. Almost being embarrassed, upset or angry at times that it happened and covering up the scars that the battle left behind.
The oversight that we make is that the scars from the battles make you the beautiful warrior that you are today. We feel that we need someone to validate that we are beautiful and worthy enough – sometimes of just being a human being. Getting scared of the dreams that you have because you doubt yourself and if you are worthy enough. Leading by Example Most of my tribe knows me as being the tough warrior, always pushing forward. Making it through my own battles to come out on the other side and show others that they can make it too. I love coaching and helping others through their own battles, this is a huge part of my life. I love watching warriors stand up and chase their own dreams, this gives me absolute joy and fulfillment. This is my dream that I stand up and chase everyday (some days more than others).
The $50 Million Test When I’m coaching my one on one clients, we go through an exercise together to find their heart’s dream. The dream that will give them the most fulfillment and purpose in their life. This is where your inner dream lives and makes you dig deep and not just focus on yourself, but others as well.
If you had $50 Million in your bank account right now, what would you be doing for free to serve others? Wait…. serve others – what is that supposed to mean? I know what you’re thinking - Renea… if I had $50 Million I wouldn’t serve others – I would go on vacation! What is Your Definition of Success? Everyone has a different definition of success for them. My definition of success is not the same as yours and yours is not the same as anyone else’s – because we all want different things.
You can be successful in different areas of your life, whether that is being a successful parent (you should always feel like that when you make it through the day with kids), being financially wealthy, having a great relationship with your spouse, being successful by doing something you love and are passionate about, etc. Fuel Your Determination Excuses are like belly buttons - everyone has them. OK – I’m going to keep it real with you here - only you think your excuses are good enough. Sorry, not sorry to be the true friend to tell you that to your face.
Here’s a little story that has stuck with me whenever I look for excuses. One day I was supposed to go to the gym (yes I talk about this a lot b/c it is a BIG part of my health recovery, both physical & mental) and I did NOT want to go. Kick Your Self-Sabotaging Ways to the Curb Do you ever find yourself all motivated and all gung ho about a goal/dream and then you start taking massive action towards it – WHOOP WHOOP.
Then a few weeks goes by and you start to slack off. You start going back to the easier way, back when you didn’t take care of the actions you knew were a major part of achieving that goal. Going back to watching Netflix & chilling over staying focused and motivated. The Edge of the Cliff Sometimes when you look at a dream or goal that you have for yourself - you can get frozen by fear (like peering over the edge of the cliff). This dream that is going to make you step way out of your comfort zone to change some part of your life is going to be really unnerving. It’s going to feel exciting, nerve-wracking, exhilarating and intimidating all at the same time.
Waiting for the Timing Last week, I fully admitted my big, scary dream of being a Life Coach and changed everything online from just coaching on Law of Attraction to Mindset and Life Coach. Then, I found the resistance pulling me, all those crappy feelings of self-doubt, fear and anxiety.
Who do you think you are? That dream is too big for someone like you. You think you and your story are unique? puh-lease. You can’t have that – go sit down now and be quiet. Maybe no one will notice. |
